Roleplay, Literature & Art
01
Overview
Hvalla is an ARPG or Art Role-playing Group.
Crafting stories from the perspective of the characters created by its members, ARPGs are an exercise in collaborative creation. Similar to tabletop or pen-and-paper-style role-playing games, players assume the role of a character in a fictional setting. Participants in the game describe their character’s actions through art and literature, rather than the speech-based actions of a traditional tabletop game. ARPGs do not often utilize real-time combat. However, ARPGs do use RNG (Random Number Generators) and reactive narration akin to a traditional board game. Your art, roleplay, and literature will describe your character’s experiences and life in the world of Hvalla to help create their story.

Roleplay
Roleplay is defined as written stories that flip between the perspectives of two or more characters played by two or more people. Roleplay works in a turn-based style, with players rotating between characters and their perspectives.
Roleplay is the most common way for writing interactions to be held throughout the game. Roleplays can occur between players and progress personal stories or be directly related to the world plot. Official admin-run Events are often held in roleplay form and are what progress the plot.
Roleplay, however, cannot be used to submit to activities at this time.
Roleplay Requirements
Roleplay participants must submit a minimum of three posts, each 100 words, or more, in a roleplay to be eligible for experience points (XP).

03
Literature
Literature is defined as writing about your character that you do completely by yourself, whether that's by having your character do things themselves, or by using NPCs to fulfill any other necessary character interactions.
Literature is a less common, but still completely valid way for players to interact with Hvalla with their characters.
Literature, however, cannot be used to submit to activities at this time.
Literature Requirements
Short stories must be relevant to the past or present of your character and be a minimum of 500 words to be eligible for experience points (XP).

04
Art
Art is defined as digital and traditional drawings and paintings that depict your character's story.
Art is one of the keyways to engage with Hvalla. As an A(RPG) there is a key emphasis on creating art and stories based upon art.
Currently, art is what is used to engage with all official 'activities' where you earn loot, take damage, and sometimes discover things about the world. These activity experiences can serve as steppingstones to make your own sandbox style stories for your character.
Art Requirements
Regardless of type, submitted art at the very minimum must have clean line art (if present), color, a background, shading, and no guidelines visible to be eligible for experience points (XP).
