Leveling
01
Overview
The term leveling refers to the process of acquiring experience points in order to level up. Leveling is one of the core game systems in Hvalla and is a measure of your character's progression in the world.
Stat Points (SP) and Experience Points (XP) are what helps your character level and progress in power and skill throughout the game. XP (gained from creating art, literature and roleplays) earns you levels, which in turn earns your character stat points which you can then use to gain greater power for characters.
02
Stat Points (SP)
Stat points define the qualities of your character and the magnitude of their abilities.
Stat points are acquired when your character levels up. Each level gained earns 2 stat points to insert into a character's attributes. Assigning stat points provides a variety of different benefits to your character, and these points are the basic building blocks for a character’s combat and survival capabilities within Hvalla.
Items that are looted or purchased can temporarily boost your characters stats when equipped, while some items can permanently add points to certain stats.
Once you’ve chosen your race, class, and made sure your warg is a young adult or older, you can assign them their stat points accordingly.
Use the information provided below to work out which base points belong to your chosen race and class:

Attributes
A warg’s character sheet has four attributes that helps explain their abilities in a quantifiable way. If a warg is better at fighting than another warg, it will show on their character sheet and in their written character bio. The attributes are as follows:
- Strength: Strength measures your character’s physical power.
- Agility: Agility measures your character’s reflexes, and coordination.
- Intellect: Intellect measures your character’s ability to learn and assess.
- Stamina: Stamina measures your character’s ability to maintain an exercise.
You can see how this would look on a completed character sheet below:
Assigning Stat Points
Once you have your base stats from one of the tables provided, you have an additional 5 SP to place in any of the four attributes of Strength, Agility, Intellect, or Stamina. If you have assigned your stat points correctly, your base stats (including the additional 5 SP) when added together should total 55.
Example
My adult Woodwarg ranger has the following base attributes:
Strength: 10
Agility: 13
Intellect: 15
Stamina: 12
I now have 5 extra SP to assign, so I look to his story for inspiration.
My Woodwarg ranger grew up a messenger runner for the mages and spent much of his life running between the tree boughs and up and down trunks with a pack full of letters. Therefore, I want to give him an additional 3 SP to stamina, because he used to run all day every day. I also want to give him 1 SP to strength – carrying around a heavy pack of letters for much of his youth, and 1 SP to agility – nimbly avoiding bumping into too many passers-by.
With my additional 5 SP given out, my characters attributes now look as follows:
Strength: 11
Agility: 14
Intellect: 15
Stamina: 15
Assigning Pup and Juvenile Stat Points
Pups and juveniles cannot select a class until they age up to young adults. Juveniles can participate in specific activities to earn stat points prior to adulthood and will retain these SP when they select their class and assign the usual accompanying base SP on the day they age up to young adult.

Experience Points (XP)
Experience points (often abbreviated to XP) are a quantitative measure of character progression in Hvalla. Experience points are accumulated by completing quests, participating in group-wide events, and creating art and/or literature. Every new character in Hvalla begins as a starter character. Starter characters have earned no experience points and are considered level 0. How quickly you level up depends on how much art and/or literature you produce and how involved in the group you are.
- Your character can only earn XP from pieces you had a hand in creating.
- NPCs do NOT contribute to the additional character bonus.
- You can only verify ONE level at a time.
- Do not post a level verification until any previous verifications have been approved.
- Only post one level verification per character per comment
Levels
Levels are an essential part of Hvalla and earning them will help you progress and shape your character throughout the game. By submitting art and literature of your character, you earn experience points which increase your level, the health of your character, and periodically unlocks rewards such as new character slots.
The amount of XP required to level up increases by 20 XP for every five levels earned.
Levels earned must be verified in order to be made official.
Tracking Levels
View the level tracking example provided here.
Make sure you denote what the type of submission is (paragraph roleplay, large illustration, small comic page, etc.) as listed in submission requirements. Any XP bonuses that add to the total must be recorded in the “notes” section and clearly state how the bonus was obtained and how much it applies.
While you may customize the tracker in a way that preserves its readability, the format and layout should not be altered.
Any equipment that adds XP must be equipped before the piece is submitted to DeviantArt.
Equipment that adds XP bonuses does not add XP retroactively to previous pieces.
Health Points
For every five levels earned, your character will receive an additional 50 HP. Health points are tracked by game admins on the inventory sheet for your character.

Level Rewards
Characters will earn various rewards as they progress in the game and achieve higher levels, e.g., character slots, titles, currency, background packs etc.
This feature is still in development and will be expanded upon in a future update.
