Companions

Overview
While your character may have beasts of burden, family pets and other creatures that surround them in everyday life, Companions are a special feature that work as a meta mechanic for game activities. Companions allow your warg to ‘equip’ an animal that provides some kind of ‘boost’ whether that be to skill points, or to activities.

Creatures vs Companions
If a creature appears in the background of pieces, this is considered a creature and does not require purchase. If a creature is to appear as a kind of secondary character to your warg, then this would be a companion and must be purchased.
Example 1
My warg is a falconer and works with a lot of falcons. These are creatures that do not need a purchase.
Example 2
My warg is a falconer and works with a lot of falcons, but has a favourite named Falco who lives with them and travels with them. This is a companion that does require a purchase.
Example 3
My warg’s family owns Equell horses that they use on their wagons to carry stuff to markets. These are creatures that do not need a purchase.
Example 4
My warg raised an Equell horse from a foal to pull their wagon. They take the wagon and my warg all around Hvalla. This is a companion that requires a purchase.

Things To Keep in Mind
- You may purchase, find or obtain in events as many companions as you want, however, may only have THREE (3) equipped at a time.
- Similar to armor, as long as the companion is equipped, you will still receive the bonus for the activity it is listed on the form for even if it is not depicted. However, you may only draw a companion in an activity piece if you have it equipped.
- If you wish to use a companion’s bonus, you need to ensure that you list it in the ‘Activity Specific-Bonus’ section of the activity form. If it is not listed, it will not be counted.
- The customization of companions should be very minor. Companions should closely resemble the official art and its description. Major changes to the body and alterations to its features as depicted would not be allowed.
Acceptable changes include
- Slight shades of color variation
- Longer/shorter legs/feathers/horns
Unacceptable changes include
- Major color variation
- Different species inspiration (e.g. changing an Algiz from a lion to a leopard)

Are There Types of Companions?
There are many different creatures that are available to be companions. Some are able to be purchased exclusively in different regions and activities or in certain seasonal shops.
What Can Companions Do?
Companions can do anything from boost your SP, to increase your odds of gaining loot in an activity. Each companion and what they can do will be different, so make sure you check out its effect in its description.

How To Use Companions
In order to use the effects of a companion, they must be equipped. Use the equipping and unequipping threads in the banking journals to apply companions and use their effects. Keep in mind, you can only have 3 companions equipped for their effects at once, however, can keep more in your inventory and feature them in your RPs/artwork!
