Clan Origins

Another clan founded by a former member of Clan Gravenrail, Snowcolt specializes in medicine and runs the Eiraldir Hospital. While the females specialize primarily in care and running the hospital itself, the males focus their skills on both tracking and throwing weapons (though these gender roles are reversible depending on interest and skill). This ensures that when Snowcolt is called upon to track down lost wargs or work as field medics to remove fallen soldiers, they are able to keep themselves safe during close combat (and thus, out of the hospital their clan runs). Like Clan Bosry, members of Snowcolt wear a sash across their chest that bears their colors and insignia to help identify them in emergencies. In order to join this clan, one must take on an apprenticeship under the guidance of a superior member and successfully pass a field test to prove they are capable of withstanding the pressure and intensity of their job.

Clan Culture & Values

A lot has changed in the more than two centuries since Snowcolt’s founding. The clan’s values then were tailored to a different time. Over the years they have been amended to better reflect more modern ideals.

Modern Values: Integrity, Friendship, Mischief, Beauty, Humor, Steadfastness

• Integrity: Meant in both senses of the word; Snowcolt is as much a unified force as any military. Their honesty and moral fortitude fosters trust with their sister clans. Relationships that afford them the freedom required to care for those in need.
  
• Friendship: Whether in the hospital or the field, the clan’s occupation is never easy. Tensions run at a constant clip; but the ties between its members are unwavering as Mt. Hundrolf. Their mutual respect and camaraderie allow them to remain effective and efficient during even the most dire of circumstances. 
  
• Mischief: While the seriousness of saving lives doesn’t often allow for it, there is merit in taking time to smell the mountain air. Revitalize relationships with clanmates and simply have fun. A degree of harmless play allows them to take advantage of those peaceful moments.
  
• Beauty: Not to be mistaken for vanity; rather, Snowcolt strives to value beauty in all things. It’s what allows them to labor tirelessly despite the tragedies they endure every day. The light at the end of every tunnel.
  
• Humor: Good bedside manners can mean the difference between a cooperative patient and a dead one, so learning how to de-escalate stressful situations is paramount. A bit of optimism goes a long way towards ensuring all parties remain as safe as possible.
  
• Steadfastness: Snowcolt’s determination and conviction to help others drives their work ethic. Only those able to dedicate themselves to that mission are able to hack it. And it’s that connection to duty that they call upon to see things through. 

Founding Values: Neutrality, Sisterhood, Dedication, Discipline, Compassion

• Neutrality: In the early days, Snowcolt had to establish itself as politically neutral to avoid antagonizing the other clans. As a result they were often presented as indifferent to the unrest caused by Gravenrail, despite their own origins.
• Sisterhood: Originally, the only members of Snowcolt were female. Sisters, mothers and mates who felt that their voices weren’t being heard in Gravenrail. Those shared experiences created unbreakable bonds between them extending across generations.
• Dedication: Snowcolt has always been a labor of love. The path of a healer is arduous at its best. Only wargs willing to devote themselves entirely to their craft were worthy of the clan’s resources.
• Discipline: Healers rely on precision in numerous respects; mixing medicines, resetting bones, navigating dangerous terrain, and remaining composed regardless of circumstances. Anyone that couldn’t keep a cool head under pressure put everyone at risk.

Compassion: For both the patients they could save and those they couldn’t, a bit of sympathy and understanding had a magic of its own. The simple comfort of knowing someone cared could be enough to live another day

A festive event held to mark the start of summer. It’s an informal party open to the public during which the hospital and its staff offer food, drink and entertainment to celebrate having survived another year. There’s music, dancing and stage reenactments of the winter’s most significant events by each clan. But the most highly anticipated part of the day is when Snowcolt's own strut down the runway showcasing the work of craftsmen and artisans from all over Iringard.
