Myrkr-Auga Clan

Clan Origins
Home City: The North Spire in The Northern Woods
Pyré was born on the borders of Niflheim and the home he made was one that became known as the North Spire. The North Spire was filled with those who wished to venture North into Niflheim and entreat with the Icewarg (and the Keepers, before they disappeared). Myrk-Auga tend to avoid settlements with large numbers of Forra-Yr (outside of Ljosa) on a matter of principle.
The Myrkr-Auga clan was formed by Pyré who was particularly close with the Keepers. Pyré spent time wandering with the Skalds and listening to their stories, and paying attention to the omens of the Oracles before the eyes and mouthpieces of the gods became strong in number. He spent much of his time attending and learning from them and requested his followers do the same. He was so intent in his certainty that the will of the Keepers was the same as the will of the gods that he often rejected or outright ignored the advice of his allies and kin in favour of that of the Keepers. Those that followed him too learned that omens and stories were passed on from the gods.
A Short History
Pyré the Fiery || Pyré was the founding Highwarg of Myrkr-Auga. He drowned in Stokkr in 437A
Conley the Hero || Conley was a young warg who ascended to Highwarg after Pyré unexpectedly drowned in 437A. He held the position through the start of the Civil war and was later killed at the start of the siege of the North Spire.
Eilonwy the Noble || Eilonwy was a young she-warg who only held the position of Highwarg for a year during the height of the Civil War, ascending in 452A. She was killed during the end of the seige of the North Spire.
Tieve the Cunning || Tieve ascended amidst the Waning years of the civil war in 453A. She made several strategic decisions that propelled the Myrkr-Auga in esteem under Gísla’s leadership and organised a marriage of her young daughter Ossolé to the son of Talfryn of Auona-Modr, uniting the two clans as Bloodclans. She retired, when she thought her daughter was ready to take her place.
Ossolé || Current highwarg of Myrkr-Auga, she ascended in 621A when her mother retired into the libraries of the Core.

Clan Culture & Values
They are always watching. Make your actions speak louder than words.
Inspired by the Eye of the Oracles and the Legends of the Skalds, Pyré had the shape of an eye tattooed inside his left ear. He had been told by an Oracle that the left ear, when put to the ground, allowed you to hear the breath of Jord. All members of this clan now carry this tattoo. Myrkr-Auga often find themselves in odd trades that others have no desire to do.
- Wisdom: Those bestowed from birth with knowledge are far more powerful than those who lock themselves away attempting to train intellect.
- Sacrifice: A warg who is willing to lay down themselves for their pursuit of what they believe in is one to be admired.
- Resilience: No matter what life throws at you, weather the storm and overcome it.
- Folklore: The tales of our history are more than just aimless stories.

Clan Politics
Eik-Saer Clan
Status: Neutral-enemy
The Eik-Saer are too closely tied together with the Forra-Yr for comfort, and the Myrkr-Auga tend to treat them with contempt. The Eik-Saer’s suspicion of the clan is met with much amusement, and like the Forra-Yr, the Myrkr-Auga enjoy planting false rumors that seemingly confirm those suspicions.
Bjarkin-Kind Clan
Status: --
The Myrkr-Auga tend to see the Bjarkin-Kind as uneducated and frivolous in their beliefs, and don’t hold them in high regard. However, Bjarkin-Kind’s hardworking nature and capacity to get things done can’t be denied. The Myrkr-Auga would be willing to cooperate with them if there was something in it to be gained.
Forra-Yr Clan
Status: Enemies
Stuffy and stupid, the Forra-Yr wrongly consider themselves the be-all and end-all of warg knowledge and discount the teachings of the Keepers. Myrkr-Auga aren’t shy about displaying open hostility to the Forra-Yr, and delight in confounding them by planting false rumors about Myrkr-Auga schemes and machinations.
Auona-Modr Clan
Status: Allies
Originally sworn enemies, Auona-Modr and Myrkr-Auga set aside their differences to become a Bloodclan, united by the marriage of past nobles. Though there was unrest at first, the two grew together into an unshakable bond. Together they undertake a mutual habit of secret-keeping, and deflect suspicion on and off of one another as it suits them.
Lae-Daudr Clan
Status: Ally
Though unpredictable, the Lae-Daudr have proven themselves driven and powerful over the centuries, and that’s something the Myrkr-Auga respect. They look fondly on the clan as an old ally, and while their relationship isn’t as strong as it once was, the potential to call on it once more still remains.
Eldi-Stokkir Clan
Status: Neutral
The Myrkr-Auga view the Eldi-Stokkir with contempt for delaying the tides of fate with their bull-headed stubbornness. Their lack of discretion in combination with their fascination for fire mages strikes the Myrkr-Auga as a dangerous combination, and though they are outwardly cordial with the Eldi-Stokkir, they are always ready to cast blame for hardships upon them.

Clan Festivals & Events
Initiation
To become a member of the Myrkr-Auga Clan you must spend an evening amongst the hollow roots of the Sapling or your home tree, deep in meditation – unarmed. Meditation may be broken, to save oneself from danger, but you must not take up arms against whatever attacks you and maintain your sense of serenity once the attack has passed. Most of the time, initiates are overall protected by older wargs and a ring is made about the roots a fair distance away - to keep them safe. But sometimes, wargs who are not well liked by their kin will find themselves attacked by masked wargs in the night and occasionally initiates are lost to hungry creatures that slip through the rings, which they cannot beat. To have withstood an attack during your initiation and maintained your serenity is a true feat and an extremely honourable one at that.
Ascension
Among the Myrkr-Auga, the Highwarg and Senwarg have similar duties and expectations, separated only by a slim margin of authority. This allows for flexibility in leadership, and a smoother transition were the Highwarg to suddenly become unfit or unalive. As such, the ceremony of Ascension is the same for both Highwarg and Senwarg, and must be completed only once. Before ascending, the warg in question must spend a night in the depths of Glime in deep communion with Jord, their tattooed ear pressed to the earth, no dangers or distractions pulling them away from their sacred task. They return at dawn to an assembly of masked Myrkr-Auga to speak the tidings of the divine that they received during their meditation. If their words are accepted by their clan, the ascension is complete.
The Unmasking
Mask making is a craft that the Myrkr-Auga have a particular fondness for. There is a certain kind of power in weaving the folklore of the woodwarg into a worn ornament, and they see the act of taking on the countenance of another as meant not so much to hide one’s identity as to enhance it. Once yearly in the depths of winter, wargs of the Myrkr-Auga gather in the Northern Woods dressed finely, wearing masks of their own creation. A select few wargs of high standing are chosen, and those assembled are challenged to name them before they unmask. This is mostly symbolic and not meant to be a matter of much difficulty, as the ideal mask should evoke the history and essence of the warg behind it. To be unrecognized behind one’s mask would be a matter of much shame and embarrassment. After the ceremony is complete, a vast mask market opens to the general public, their skills turned to rendering the likeness of beasts and wargs of songs past. The Bjarkin-Kind are frequent buyers of Myrkr-Auga masks.
