Clan Myrewing
of the icewarg
01
Clan Origins
Founded shortly after Grothgar fled to the Thuelheim mountains of Niflheim, this Clan was born more out of necessity than by choice. The Icewarg needed to adapt to the hostility of their environment, which often meant facing its beasts head-on to survive and provide food and materials to its people. Thus, Myrewing is composed primarily of Gorsimi (monster hunters) who have carried on the art and tradition of tracking, killing, and harvesting Niflheim's fiercest creatures. Needless to say, the life expectancy of this Clan's members is not high due to the nature of their assignments, so the number of elders capable of passing on their skills is swiftly dwindling. To become a Gorsimi, a warg must not only undergo grueling physical training and prove their mental acuity, but they must demonstrate courage and strength by killing something formidable that lurks deep within the Thuelheim mountain range, under the guidance and tutelage of a senior hunter. This is done during the Gorsimi Festival at the end of the year.

Clan Culture & Values
Cunning, Reclusiveness, Resourcefulness, Unpredictability, Narcissism
Expected to be honorable to one another/uphold the spirit of competition/thrill of the hunt. Share knowledge freely with one another but not outsiders, only for a price. Uphold/guard the tradition of the gorsimi and treat hunted beasts with respect. Expected to think on one's feet, be independent, and be able to make firm decisions. There is no place for cowards, swindlers, mercenaries, or those with little respect for their elders or the natural magics of the world and its creatures. Effort is to be rewarded with something of equal value and nothing less. To refuse to award a Gorsimi or underpay them is considered a great offense unless these conditions were previously agreed upon or the contract is an act of charity, though this is rarely the case. Any contracts taken on by a Gorsimi must be honored; otherwise, debts will be incurred, or the offending gorsimi will be shamed and scorned. Myrewing values intelligence and cunning, as outwitting one's hunted prey or the enemy at your back means living another day. For those not in the profession of monster hunting, similar values still apply, emphasizing understanding one's worth and having confidence, skill, and guile. Goods sold and collected from hunted beasts, fashioned however they are, are to be of the highest quality and never undersold. The Clan encourages a rousing spirit, pushing to live life to the fullest, meet danger head-on, and die well when it's time.

Clan Politics
Clan Gravenrail
Status: --
Clan Myrewing does not have much to say against Clan Gravenrail. Clan Myrewing appreciates Clan Gravenrail for keeping their home safe from invaders as they travel to bring home necessary supplies and prizes from their kills. A healthy rivalry between members of both clans may exist on who has the most skill and power. An armored soldier or a risk-taking monster slayer? Which is the most potent and most valuable force in Iringard?
Clan Bosry
Status: --
Gorsimi hunters tend to be much more free-spirited and follow the laws of the wild. As such, Clan Myrwing members often clash with Clan Bosry when they return from their travels and battles abroad. They view Clan Bosry's adherence to Iringard's strict laws as stifling and wish they'd loosen up a little. Not everything is always so black and white, and life is short.
Clan Emerstead
Status: --
Clan Myrewing members will occasionally visit the library to conduct research and scour maps of the areas they are to explore. They may share some knowledge of monsters, the lands, and other things in return for using the library. Granted, this only happens due to Clan Myrewing's scarce numbers. Most skills and knowledge are directly handed down within the Clan. Clan Myrewing carefully guards their own knowledge, never revealing all of their secrets or techniques. Myrewing places a heavy emphasis on experiencing things first-hand, and although they do not fail to see the importance of the library, they would much rather be out in the field. Despite this, Clan Myrewing's relationship with Emerstead is still more positive and cooperative than most.
Clan Snowcolt
Status: --
Leaving Iringard without a Clan Snowcolt member in your party is never wise. Clan Myrewing and Clan Snowcolt work closely together on and off the field to ensure each other's survival and to help the Icewarg denizens as a whole. Clan Myrewing views Clan Snowcolt members as a valuable necessity to their way of life, and Clan Snowcolt members are eager to put their skills to the test.
Clan Arshaw
Status: --
Being out in the tundra and seeing more of the outside world than others, Clan Myrewing members tend to give more credence to things said by Clan Arshaw; Fenrir and Jord's influence is undeniable. However, Clan Arshaw's secretive nature makes establishing any relationship or sharing knowledge difficult, and the two Clans are wary of one another's intentions.
Clan Grizzlehorn
Status: --
With all of the raw material Clan Myrewing brings back from the wilds, they have a strong and thriving relationship with Clan Grizzlehorn. Clan Grizzlehorn purchases the materials from their hunts and, in return, gives them better weapons and armor to survive and be safe in their hunts and travels. It is a symbiotic relationship they highly value and strive to maintain.

Clan Festivals & Events
Winterholm (Mid-Winter)
Similar to the resting moon, but exclusively for those of Clan Myrewing. Any lingering or distant Gorsimi, whose location is known, is called back to Iringard or their nearest Clan hall. They gather to honor fallen Gorsimi, spend time with their families, and rest. Lost weapons and armor are returned, repairs are made, and it is seen as a time of mourning and reflection. It is a time for discussion as well. New maps are drafted, the archives are updated, and members can converse freely. Other Clans are barred from participating in this event. A vigil is held at the weapon wall through the night, and any reported to have died are honored, their weapons blessed by the breath of Fenrir, and then they are mounted with the others. If no weapon is returned, a ceremonial weapon, crafted especially for these instances, is branded with the name of the fallen and used in the missing weapon's place. This is also the practice for those primarily utilizing magic abilities over iron or silver.
Gorsimi Festival
Celebrated by all, though incredibly grandiose in Iringard, this festival is held towards the end of the year. An ancient carapace of a jormu is held aloft by select Clan members (or a costume of one, depending on the locale) who parade the carapace through the tunnels and streets in a grand display, with battle cries and song. Members of Clan Myrewing costume themselves as other frightening beasts or don their fiercest armor and alight across all of Iringard, knocking on doors and entreating for favors. Donations of weapons, armor, gold, food, ale, or any additional supplies are welcomed, and though they may be first denied, the costumed Myrewing shall only leave once some favor is given. While some warg may find this meddlesome, most view it as uplifting and honoring what many gorsimi have sacrificed for the safety of the people. This practice is said to bring good luck for the new year.
In Iringard, those who join the parade towards the Clan Hall are rewarded with a mighty feast, a bonfire, and retellings of legends and mighty battles of old. Clan Myrewing keeps a close eye on any attendees to this feast, ensuring that off-limit areas are closely guarded from the guests. Attendees can also witness the trials of any fledgling gorsimi - who are staged to fight in an arena of the clan hall with a beast of their instructor's choosing. It is widely accepted that this trial is life-threatening, but many more experienced Gorsimi stand by to leap into action at a moment's notice should things get out of hand. Upon success, the fledgling is honored as a true hunter and bestowed specially crafted new weapons and armor and toasted by the attendees. If they fail and still live, they are dismissed by their instructor to review their performance and have any wounds promptly treated.
The bonfire is held late into the night, and upon the hour closest to dawn, celebrants are led to sing to Fenrir and honor those who could not attend, who may no longer be with the Clan or may have perished. If a fledgling died during their trial, they are honored here and on the wall with a somber farewell. Clan Myrewing members ensure all attendees leave the Clan Hall and may even escort people to their homes at the festival's conclusion.
