Clan Origins
Clan Goldmane is a wealthy merchant clan that was founded by siblings Arell and Kainelon. Together, they recognized the value of the riches beneath Wargrun in the form of ores and precious stones. While they had no inclination to unite and lead the clans, they did for a long period possess the capital.
The Golden Age
Before the Riverford and Ironforge occupation, Goldmane was the head clan in Wargrun. Master businessman Sif at the head, the clan and the city flourished. Famously, Jarl Sif restructured the entire second tier to be centered around the Dragonforge, personally funding to have the finest blacksmiths in the realm relocate to Wargrun. However, they did not only focus on the city’s business district, but also personally funded the building of more tenement housing and soup kitchens, eradicating homelessness in the city and creating the largest workforce in Utgard’s history. This was known as Wargrun’s golden age, which unfortunately ended after the assassination of the jarls.

Clan Culture & Values
Clan Goldmane is the force for trade and education (though limited) within Wargrun and they run a soup kitchen for those who are destitute. To join Clan Goldmane, a warg must throw a lavish party that outdoes all those that have come before. Sometimes, several hopefuls will work together to complete this goal.
Bloodstones
Goldmane bloodstones are made of tiger’s eye with glittering gold runes. Parents often have small decorative carvings added to their pup’s bloodstone. Similar motifs often are carried over from parent stones to their child’s stones to further cement their bond.
Death Rites
Goldmane generally entomb or bury their dead, typically with items of personal value, believing having their most precious things near them in death helps prevent the spirit from wandering on their journey to the Helgafjell. Unfortunately, those items of personal value tend to also be items of monetary value, making Goldmane graves prime targets for grave robbing. To negate this, Goldmane will sell plots at graveyards with hired guards to protect the dead and their belongings. The exceptionally well off keep those close to them buried in tombs or plots on their own land.

Clan Festivals & Events
Jarl Naming
Goldmane’s Jarl naming is truly a sight to behold. The entire city of Wargrun is decorated in honor of the event, sometimes taking months to put together. Vendor and entertainers from all over travel for the event, offering lavish foods and goods for purchase, including exotic animals and never before seen treasures. Truly no expense is spared, and no one is turned away. For a solid week (and sometimes longer) the city is a massive party. Games and events take place all over the city with hunting contests and treasure hunts spreading outside the walls. Traditionally, the Jarl will also bestow lavish gifts of jewelry to favored clan members.
A parade is held at the start with the Jarl riding on a large float at the end. Once the group reaches the city center, the jarl stands on a stage as a group top clan members place a large laurel of exotic flowers and gold on the jarl’s shoulders. They then give a big speech, and the festivities begin! The jarl will generally dry the laurel and keep it in their house. The longer the chain, the more expensive!
Thane Naming
The Thane’s naming party is a much smaller affair, generally more focused on clan bonds, though outsiders are still allowed to attend. The main event is a grand feast. Exotic meats and spices are often features of envy with mead running generously. Clan members often bring the Thane small gifts as congratulations. While family and close friends may bring more lavish gifts such as fine jewelry, weapons and armor, gifts from most clan members are usually much smaller. Bringing flowers is more traditional, though other gifts of similar value such as wood carvings are also acceptable. There are usually many speeches and stories told about the new thane before the night’s end.
