Aging & Reproduction
01
Aging
Aging is an important aspect of how your characters will evolve throughout the game. Unlike the world we know, in Hvalla, aging appears to slow or cease entirely once a Hvallan warg reaches adulthood. The recognized age of adulthood, and the average lifespan of a warg varies per race. Additionally, a wargs lifespan is influenced by the culture and environment in which they live. As of the present day, no warg has been known to have reached the end of a natural lifespan; however, a character can appear to be ‘aged’ aesthetically, i.e., battle-worn, sun-kissed, etc.
A Player Character CANNOT be born before 525A and it would be quite unusual for any warg to live for that length of time due to the harsh nature of the world.
02
In Game Time Vs Real Life Time
Characters age differently in Hvalla compared to the way years progress in real time. While one year in Hvalla is equal to one year of real life, the seasons do not align the same. Seasons in Hvalla change every six months, and a new year passes every twelve months in real time.
You can learn more about seasons here.

Growth & Development
Warg’s ages are determined by segments of their life. Much like humans, who grow from baby, to child, to teenager, to adult; wargs grow from pups, to juveniles, to young adults, and then to adults.
Wargs have developed to meet the world of Hvalla as optimumly as possible. That is why their formative (and most vulnerable years) pass by so quickly. The older a warg is, the better-equipped they are to take on the challenges and dangers that run rampant through the world, and the more likely they are to survive.
Puphood
A pup is a pup from the moment they are born, to the moment they can begin accompanying their parents on longer outings beyond their immediate home. They are small, pudgy creatures that still drink milk and should not be too far from their mother, or a nanny.
Players with characters that are from the same litter should coordinate to age their characters up at the same time according to the timeline provided below.
Age In-Game: 0 - 3 months old
Real Time: 3 months
Human Age Equivalent: 0 - 7 years old
Racial Milestones
Icewarg
Puppies are taught basic skills and etiquette by their mother.
Stonewarg
At 3 months old, Stonewarg pups are presented to the Jarl of their clan to receive their name.
Woodwarg
As soon as possible after birth, pups are brought to The Sapling. Here, the Ceremony of the Leaf is held and the pup will receive their rune of destiny.
Juvenile
Juveniles are wargs that are beginning to grow larger, although their physical build will not necessarily reflect what they will look like in adulthood. They can travel longer distances and help with general tasks, and particularly mature juveniles have been known to get early apprenticeships.
Age In-Game: 4 – 6 months old
Real Time: 3 months (6 months total from puphood to juvenile)
Human Age Equivalent: 8 - 17 years old
Racial Milestones
Icewarg
Juveniles continue to learn under the guidance of their mothers. A father may start to take an interest in the hunting and fighting education of his sons.
Stonewarg
Juveniles are sent to the Drengar - the Stonewarg-mandated war camp, where they are taught all aspects of battle and strategy.
Woodwarg
Juveniles are sent to Treskola - the Woodwarg education system that schools them in all manner of things.
Young Adult
A young adult is still growing but is beginning to settle into the physiology that they will show for the rest of their life. Young adults can dedicate their training to the fields they wish to work in as adults.
Age In-Game: 7 months - 2 years old
Real Time: 18 months
Human Age Equivalent: 18 - 29 years old
Racial Milestones
Icewarg
Young adults begin the process of undertaking their Clan Rites.
Stonewarg
Young adults continue to train within the Drengar and endeavor to be considered worthy of graduating with the opportunity to join a warband.
Woodwarg
Young adults study hard in order to complete final exams and earn apprenticeships under masters once they reach adulthood.
Adult
Adulthood is the measure of a warg. Adult wargs shape legacies on the world of Hvalla that they will leave behind for generations to come. Adults are a warg in their prime and contribute the most to their races and storylines. Aging appears to slow or cease entirely.
Age In-Game: 2 years old – onward
Real Time: Forever (2 years total from puphood to adulthood)
Human Age Equivalent: 30+ years old
Racial Milestones
Icewarg
Adults are committed clan members. Most will have taken up a trade.
Stonewarg
Adults are committed clan members. Those who graduated from the Drengar will have taken up a trade or have become members of a warband.
Woodwarg
Adults study their chosen field as apprentices under their master until they are ready to take the Presentation. Once this has been successful, they become masters of their trade in their own right and are committed clan members.

Reproduction
Upon reaching adulthood, a female warg is able to produce a litter at any time of year if she is at full health and there is an ample supply of food. Both parents must be adults, be of the same race, and have a minimum of three in-character interactions (Roleplay or Collaborative Art) in order to have a litter. Pregnancies last for 60 days (both real life and game time) and a due date will be provided to you at the confirmation of pregnancy.
Halfbloods
The races are incompatible with each other physiologically, even with pairings between Fenrir’s Children x Fenrir’s Children, and Jord’s Children x Jord’s Children. As such Halfbloods do not exist in Hvalla. Wargs do not think of themselves or claim to be ‘halfblooded’, despite their affinity with the other races. However, they may use the names of races as a derogatory term to refer to one another; e.g., your mother was a Woodwarg!
Purchasing a Litter
Litter purchases are unavailable at this time.
05
Litter Sizes & Mortality Rates
The number of pups a warg can have is dependent on the mortality rate of their race, with Woodwarg having the lowest mortality rate, and Stonewarg having the highest. You may select the number of pups you wish to have in a litter; however, you must have players for the pups by the time of birth or the pups will be considered stillborn.
