Activity: Crafting

01

Overview

Crafting is a way for your character to use the items they have earned within the world of Hvalla.

What is Crafting?

  • Crafting is a system that involves taking various raw materials and components found in Exploration, Hunting and other activities, and combining them into new items using a recipe.

Submission Requirements

  • There are no art or literature submissions for crafting you must comment on the correct thread.
  • You can submit a maximum of one crafting per 24 hours.

You can find the entirety of our crafting rules on the journal provided here. Always refer to the rules and guidelines provided in the current crafting journal.

What Can you Craft?

Crafting offers you the ability to create items, some of which cannot be obtained in other activities or purchased through a shop. Listed below are categories of items that are available for crafting:

ACCESSORIES
Accessories are small wearable items that likely cast a boon for the wearer like amulets or rings of power.

ARMOUR
Armour that has been crafted generally has better perks than starter armour, offering better protection, while sometimes requiring less stats in stamina to wear.

CRAFTED ITEMS
Crafted items are components of other items. They’re things like refined wood plants that you have made out of a rough log and may be more suitable for building!

FOOD
Fills belly. Heals the soul. Cheese and crackers are better than just cheese. It’s a fact. Food helps you regain HP.

POTIONS & POULTICES
Potions and poultices help get your warg feeling back on track, They remove debuffs and can give your warg cool bonuses. They also sell for a tidy sum and make great gifts for friends.

TOOLS & EQUIPMENT
Tools and Equipment can help you with more advanced recipes  or give you an advantage when hunting or exploring. They make life easier. And we all like when life is easier.

WEAPONS
Weapons that have been crafted generally deal higher amounts of damage than simple weapons.

03

Crafting Difficulty

Recipes all have a designated level of difficulty. This rating will help give you an idea of just how much effort the resulting items will take to craft.

EASY
Cheap and nasty but could be worth something. Easy crafting will generally just require you to combine two or more generic raw material items together following a recipe. For example: vegetables, , meat and bread all combine to make a sandwich which is worth 2 hp. There are multiple items that could be considered “meat” and any of them could be used in place of this ingredient.

AVERAGE
Items that are average for average benefit. Average crafting will require more specific items to combine together. For example: Absorbent Moss, Cattail, Cowberries, Garlic Mustard, Ground Ivy, Oats and Straw all combine to make an open wound antiseptic.

ADVANCED
Items that are advanced require ingredients that are more rare to find or may require special tools to complete. For example, gold ore and sapphire could be combined with an anvil and hammer to create a gold ring.

CHALLENGING
Hard items worth the wait. Challenging crafting will require two or more pre-crafted items to combine together. For example: you need to smelt ores into ingots and combine with a crafted wood and a crafted potion for you to end up with a magic-infused weapon, for example.

How to Craft

Crafting will require different things depending on what you’re trying to make, but you can always follow this general methodology:

  1. Pick an item to make from the recipe/material list
  2. Find/trade/buy the ingredients listed on the recipe
  3. Add/redeem all items to your inventory. Materials and components MUST be added to your inventory prior to crafting your chosen recipe.
  4. Comment on the correct thread on the Crafting Journal.
  5. Once you have confirmation that your item has been created and added to your inventory you may then consume, equip, or use the item as specified whenever you wish.

Crafting may also yield valuable items that can then be sold for a small profit to a vendor.
